The Salt Lake Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity has partnered with the Salt Lake Home Builders Association to build a home in four (4) days for a local single mother and her daughter.
Framing for the home will begin on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 6:00 a.m. and the home will be completed on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.
The home is being built for Crystal Sylvester and her 11 year old daughter. Crystal has been dreaming of a Habitat home since she first applied in 2002. Crystal will have satisfied 200 hours of required sweat equity, by working on other families’ houses, prior to taking possession of her home. She will have also been involved in a ten-part education class dealing with money management, budgeting, credit, insurance, mortgage documents, identity theft prevention, estate planning, and similar topics. Like other program participants, she will purchase her home with a 25 or 30 year, no-interest loan from Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity.
